Plan It.  Work It.  Celebrate It!

Early in my career, my supervisor shared a simple mantra that has stayed with me: “Plan your work…  Work your plan”.  Those six words have guided me throughout my career and in my volunteer activities.  With distractions pulling us in a dozen different directions, a clear plan gives us something powerful: focus, action, and progress towards goals.

I’ve seen firsthand what happens when a plan meets commitment.  I coach Special Olympics softball.  We didn’t just show up each week, toss a softball around, and simply hope for the best at competitions.  We had a plan.  We worked our plan.  We worked on stronger batting, accurate fielding, and smarter game play, and then we put those skills into action.

The Result?

A Provincial Championship.  A trip to the National Games.  And a gold medal for Alberta!

The medal was exciting, but the real victory was in everything that happened before we stepped onto the field.  Success started with a plan.

What does your club’s plan look like?

Kudos to clubs for submitted your Club Success Plans!  You’ve created a roadmap for building a stronger, more engaged, and more successful Toastmasters club.

What is your personal plan?

How will you turn your goals into action?  (Plan It)  How will you make progress?  (Work It)  And how will you celebrate the wins along the way?  (Celebrate It)

What skills do you want to strengthen this year?

Where will you put these skill into practice?

What challenge are just beyond your comfort zone?

Who can help you stay accountable to your plan and reach your goals?

Maybe this is the year you’ll lead a project, mentor another member, deliver a presentation, facilitate a workshop, or finally tackle that challenge that makes you a little nervous.

Pathways offers you a progression of projects and opportunities to explore as you build your communication and leadership skills.

Harness your commitment to growth and improvement, and turn your goals into results.

Plan It.  Work it.  Celebrate It!
